Fighting for the vulnerable...
Against All Odds Animal Rescue is located in the Midwest near Hamilton, MO. It's founder, Debb Allen, has been fighting for animals rights to live happy and comfortable lives against all odds for over 30 years. She works tirelessly to bring injured, discarded or dislocated dogs back to a life they deserve, one with people who love them and for whom they will be their "forever" pet. Her dedication has earned her a reputation for THE person to go to when rehoming a family pet is necessary because of circumstances beyond control. She and a very small group of volunteers who foster and help rehome dogs have rehomed over 7,000 dogs in over 20 years. AAO is a non profit licensed 501(C) organization so your donation is tax deductible, and as you can guess, money is always needed to help feed, vet, and house the canine (and sometimes feline and others!) guests. We don't put a time limit on a dogs' stay at AAO, and are willing to wait for every dog to have their chance at a happy life.
Thanks to great people, Debb has found homes for dogs that others would write off-- a deaf blind great dane, dogs that have only known a kennel as home all their lives, handicapped animals and as in the case of the beautiful golden retriever, a victim of a cruel act of violence- shot in the chest! Rescue is full of both joy and heartbreak but finding wonderful furever homes for these deserving animals makes it all worth it!
All of the collective experience and skills within this group is astonishing and each has decided to utilize those skill-sets for the well being and betterment of the fur babies that come into our care and may need help.

Tootie, the ResQ pup!
Tootie is a sweet pup who serves as a friend and mascot with Against All Odds Animal ResQ in Hamilton, Missouri. Her best friend is Debb “Dog Lady” Allen who founded and operates the rescue. Tootie was born on 2/15/18 and is a Malti-schon (Maltese and Bischon). She had a traumatic event at birth when her birth mom ate her right foot off taking her out of the sack. Debb rescued her at 6 weeks old and it was was love at first sight for both of them! Tootie has learned some tricks and can walk on her back legs for a long period of time. She is so smart and naturally started doing turns for attention and treats. Tootie absolutely loves people and being held. She will go from person to person in a crowded room, sharing attention with all. Tootie is smart and sometimes stubborn. She knows what potty pads are for and going outside but elects not to conform. She will wait til her “baby-girl pants” are on and go potty standing on the potty pad. Tootie gets along great with cats and loves giving kitty cat baths. Tootie started getting her hair done at 8 weeks old and she is a dream to groom. She’s a fashionista and enjoys wearing clothes and loves her luggage to go places in. She jumps right in it as soon as Debb sets it down on the floor. Tootie is a great friend and welcome committee to new rescues and has been on many transports to many states. She is a great little alert dog and has an ear pirecing bark. She is Debb’s little 4 lb package of love and sometimes sass! Tootie and Debb are a perfect match and a great example of what AAO ResQ wants to achieve with every fur kid—human match! ❤️🐾

"Help us to help them." -a Note from Debb "Dog Lady" Allen
We all believe in the Help Us to Help Them theory. We believe that everybody has something they can do to get this accomplished. Simple things like if you have extra or used household items and are going to throw them out anyway...donate them to a rescue/shelter. A single sock can be made into a warm place a newborn fur baby can be put into. Linen sets that are not suited to be displayed on a bed can be made into a hammock for cats or shredded to make soft nesting. Pants that are ripped in the seat area can have the legs cutoff for kitty or ferret tunnels in which to play and hide in. Towels that are stained or have a bleach spot can be used for bath time to dry off. Plastic containers and totes can be used for storage of food or cleaning supplies to keep them safely stored. They are also used for winter housing for the feral cats that stay outdoors in a colony.
Pay it Forward...this program can and should be used outside of the animals as well. If you know someone that is having a difficult time caring or feeding their animal, offer to give them a bag of food. I promise you, it will make you feel so LARGE on the inside. When in a store you see someone can't afford all that they have bought, simply get the cashiers attention and add it to yours. You don't even have to tell the person. Or walk up to a cashier and hand her $20 to use for the next person that has at least 2 kids with them. Then ask them to tell the person it was anonymous and merely Pay it Forward when they can. Tell 10 people and dare them to tell 10 people how it feels to help a rescue fur kid. If just 2 of each of those 10 people do it …imagine the possibilities?! |
